Authorities are canceling the payment of import duties on electric vehicles in Togo. As approved by the government, these new benefits are part of a policy intended to accelerate the green economy in this West African territory.

In Togo, the authorities have decided to do away with the need that electric cars to pay import charges. Therefore, purchasing Electric Vehicles would be beneficial to the people since the government has approved the purchase of these vehicles without the imposition of import tariffs in order to expand and expedite the adoption of a green economy in this West African nation. This was a long-term awaited measure in the automobile sector in Togo. a new 100.

The reason for such measures taken by the authorities in Togo is to promote the use of electric vehicles and accelerate the green economy in the country. As a result, in order to enter the nation in a lawful and untroubled manner, it is required that any mode of transportation that does not require gasoline or diesel as a fuel shall be eligible for state permission.

As part of a decree that was signed by President Faure Gnassingbé in favor of economic operators on August 20, 2021, the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR), along with the Ministries of Environment and Trade, will jointly issue the approval of this decision in order to complete the necessary customs clearance formalities for electric or hybrid vehicles.

The Evolution of Green Economy in Togo
